Ring. com has proven itself to be the dominant video doorbell manufacturer in the market. Their commercials are in heavy rotation on TV and YouTube is pegged with hundreds of its how to videos. The incredible amount of venture capital keeps the marketing wheels turning but I credit Ring’s staying power to its ability to add innovative new features to its existing products that enhance an already impressive feature list. Enhancements you just can’t get in other more seemingly better video doorbell devices. Just recently, I wrote an article about alternatives to RING.

In low light conditions, the Nest Cam Indoor and the D Link DCS 2630L were better. Aside from overall daytime video quality, we also looked at each camera's picture clarity. Predictably, higher resolution cameras yielded the best results in this test, with 1080p cameras showing greater detail than 720p models. The Flir FX, D Link DCS 2630L and Netgear Arlo Q had the clearest video among 1080p cameras, while the Belkin NetCam HD+ was the best among 720p cameras. We concluded testing by evaluating how well each camera handled motion. The D Link DCS 2630L and the Netgear Arlo Q recorded movement well, while the other cameras had at least some lag and image distortion. Internet speed can affect lag, so motion is often worse on live video feeds, while recordings have fewer problems than live streams. Nighttime videos use infrared light instead of visible light, so they don't match the color or detail of daytime videos. Therefore, we assessed the brightness of the nighttime picture instead, with brighter video producing more detail. The top nighttime security camera was the Belkin NetCam HD+, which illuminated our room better than other cameras. AudioOur audio tests took a simple approach:we listened for loud, understandable audio.

Again, that is something which is not possible if you go to a shop. Break ins are not the only reason to learn how to setup wireless security cameras in your home. There are many other good reasons for getting security cameras in your house. Not only do they allow you to identify someone who has broken into your house, they also often will prevent intruders in the first place. One thing that potential intruders hate is recordings of their activity. Simply by advertising that you have built in security cameras, you prevent several break ins. In this way, home security cameras serve as proactive crime prevention as opposed to simply reactive, like the home security system that you probably have installed at the moment. Imagine, if you would, coming home from a long day’s work. You open the door, and the light’s immediately turn on a shade past dim – just the way you like it. It’s 7. 58pm and by the time you hang up your coat, take off your shoes and sit down in the living room, it’s time for the basketball game.
